Global Talks: „Why theology without global learning is irrelevant“

Studying theology in Germany often means reading only the books of White, German authors. Perhaps just once, students will take a seminar on ecumenism and glance at a bit of ‘contextual theology’ from Africa, Asia or Latin America. But German theology is not universal, but just as contextual. And if it ignores this fact, it will become provincial and irrelevant.

In a new edition of Global Talks Prof. Dr. Jeaneth Harris-Faller, Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Silliman University in Dumaguete/Philippines, will explain to us why theology needs global learning, and how this could work. The lecture and discussion will be held in English with a German summary and the possibility to ask questions in German.

The event will be streamed as Zoom video conference on Tuesday,  June 29th, 2021 from 11.15 am until 12:45 MESZ. The access link is: https://zoom.us/j/99483349189?pwd=WUprK014NDJwZHJmSStlcWVqc0FEdz09

„Global Talks“ is a joint event series by Vereinte Evangelische Mission (VEM) and the Protestant University Wuppertal/Bethel.
